Oh, Lord! It’s the academic title, it is the vote that powerful as it is, dignified us with the reelection.
Oh, Lord! It’s the grateful sign that put us in the environment of the Brazilian Academy of Arts, proving the dignity of our labor and action.
Oh, Lord! It’s the reverence we have made to God for conducting us to the academic atmosphere, giving us strength, evidence and leadership in order to – in a creative way – execute the task of honor the dentistry concepts and academic ones which rule our noble profession, in all national territory.
We have known our deficiencies, although we are rich in dignity and effective elaboration of projects to grow and develop the area.
The missing president of that noble Brazilian Academy of Arts, Austregésilo de Ataíde, in our long and productive conversations in his office, where he always received us with friendship, incentivating us in relation to the growth of our Academy; he used to tell us his never ending work, trying to give us the best working environment to the noblest Academy of the Country, admired all over the world, developing today its activities as a product from its many years of work. This Academy has gone through new generations with honor felt by the ones who know and go there.
Based on the example and teaching, we have accomplished the best to our Academy, in the exact dimension of our efforts.
That’s why we honor Austregésilo de Ataíde, our friendship and admiration to the Brazilian Academy of Arts.
We present to our friend – writer and president CICERO SANDRONI, our honored regarded reverence and thanks for receiving us in such noble and healthy atmosphere.
We direct now to our Academicians, letting our heart speak.
Today, we turn one more page in the history of our Academy, completing on October 25, SIXTY years of its foundation. This event is the beginning of our planned celebrations. Starting at this moment, hoping and working with the objective of making it grow. It is vehement our will to have more progress, knowing that all the Academicians will collaborate to the continuity of the works brilliantly executed by the former Board in which we are very grateful. We hope the new Board will be able to make more expressive the academic strength.
In the center of our thoughts, we tell everybody: together we will strengthen the prosperity revolution that will continue as a tribute to the integrity of the participative work in order to make the national Dentistry stronger.
EINSTEIN, even though he was not from our professional environment, said that: “There are, in he science of all times, two rules of opposite aims, that completing each other contribute to progress: the effort of expanding our individual knowledge, and the effort of reaching the systematic unity of knowledge”.
We, Academicians, have the duty and we do it, of looking for that expansion and unity to make our knowledge more solid, and together with other unities, be able to continue the enlargement of our professional learning.
Life is what we do in the objective of the task that was given to us.
We know there is no resting, but a dignified going on by the mission we have received. That way we persevere and continue our fight. “LITERA SCRIPTA MANEET” , that is:” What is written continues, and we say we will do it.”
That way, in our national path, we have reached places never gone before, connecting the academic activities in the country and in the world of dentistry environment. We have taken part of the election of the first Brazilian, our college classmate in the “Universidade do Brasil”, today the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, to assume the most elevated position in the world Dentistry, that is, the president of the International Federal Dentistry, our academician Professor ROBERTO VIANNA. He has already directed the International Dentistry, for two years, making the national knowledge of Dentistry reach all countries in the world.
He is in mission, in the United States of America, so he is being represented by the noble friend Dr. NORBERTO FRANCISCO LUBIANA, President of the Brazilian Association of national Dentistry: he is also one of the persons who was responsible for the election of ROBERTO VIANNA.
For the importance of all things that have happened, we emphasize the significance of EDUCATION in all its segments, in the intellectual formation in all classes of the society.
In our jobs, it’s our task to disagree, and we have already done it, with the path in which the dental learning has been going. For the bad management of many universities, created without the correct planning, has taken education to power levels of quality and because of that has taken this profession and others to places never wanted.
It’s the duty of our authorities, review those procedures and the quality of learning, making the population suffer with that.
It’s necessary to say, even repeatedly, that the development of a country, as we have examples of some developed ones, is based on education in all areas of the human knowledge. If we, honestly want that the population receives adequate care, it’s essential that we take care of EDUCATION. All benefits will come from the knowledge acquired by all parts of the society. If not, the price to be paid will bring continuous conflicts, without end. Such task has to be taken by our government and, principally by the legislature, that we wish would be honest and competent in the makings of our laws.
Only EDUCATION is capable of enlarging the views and making the future country that the Brazilian people wish. Being prepared, they will be able to choose correctly their politicians and take care of the development of our country.
Valorizing EDUCATION, the Brazilian people will be more aware of the complex and important national problems, including the development of the human resources, in the Amazon region, knowing how to help in the security and defense of that region. It is necessary to have politics to defend the Green Amazon integrating with the Blue one, full of petrol.
Conscious voters should know the obstacles and worry about the deterioration of important national political institutions, in which the people who work there give the impression they’re proud of the ignorance, the corruption and the embarrassing effect of the South-American neo-populism, going in the opposite direction of the basic principles of democracy. Brazil, as being the biggest and most important emergent potence of South America, has all the means to resolve such things that depress the nation. Even though such thing happens, we must believe in a better future, that all the population will be attentive and will fight with clear conscience in the global scenario.
Despite our atomic times, where greed is more important, without space for emotion and dignity, the educational process should take place vigorously.
The Brazilian Academy of Dentistry works in the area that is supposed to, not omitting itself from political speech, in which politics is what makes the life of a nation – when it is according to the desires of its nation. So, EDUCATION, should prevail making the population happier and more prosperous.
Unity in order to have peace among the nations, that is the feeling that the educational method can adopt.
It is not goodness to promote a quality education, but an obligation.
Telling the truth - ladies and gentleman - it is an endless source of courage, confirmation and hope in the transformation.
We excuse in such a cheerful event, that make us very proud, salute the victory of Brazil, that will host the Olympic games of 2016.
We wish that the future jobs bring to the Brazilian population, besides the happiness of sports what is extremely healthy, social tranquility in all its aspects.
